Ella's Desert Island Discs

Image
Today my mum and daddy set me a challenge to come up with three different songs. So if I was on a desert island I would only listen to those songs. This was a very hard challenge, I couldn’t really think of only three songs, but I did in the end. Desert Island Discs is a radio show which is what gave them the idea. As well as choosing three songs I had to say why I would choose them. Miss Nothing by Pretty Reckless Again by Archive Anything You Can Do by Bernadette Peters and Tom Wopat The reasons why I would choose these I would listen to Miss Nothing because its a good song and when I'm in a meh mood I can listen to this and well feel meh. I would choose Again because its a sad song so I could listen to this and it could help me when I am in a negative mood. I would choose Anything You Can Do because when I am happy I can listen to it and if I am sad. I would also listen to it if I was on my own as I could remember putting this song in my daddy's head and annoying him with it

Apple Trees

Image
Today we received an apple tree for our garden, so we decided to write our blog post about apple tress.  The life cycle of an apple tree The tree begins as a seed. You need to plant the seed in a decent sized plant pot. It will need to be watered especially on days when there is no rain. You will also need to put it in a good place in your garden so animals like dogs can’t get it. You shouldn't really have the tree inside because you don't know how big the tree will grow. Next it will turn into a seedling. You don’t have to do anything to it at this point because it doesn’t have apples on it yet so nothing needs done. All you need to do is keep on watering it. It will then turn into a sapling, again keep on watering it and we forgot to mention talk to it so it will grow quicker. There is research that suggests plants grow quicker when you talk to them or play them music. it will then grow into a tree, eventually it will produce apples and then you can do anything with them. The

Today Mum decided that we would all have a go at doing art in his style and that our blog today could be about this famous artist. African Penquins

Image
All marine wildlife should be protected, the African penguin being one of them. African penguins live in colonies along the Western coast and islands between South Africa and Namibia and one of their colonies, Boulders Beach, is a popular attraction for travellers visiting Cape Town. In a century African penguin numbers have dropped over 99%. The wild African penguin population has been in decline due to habitat destruction, commercial over-fishing, pollution and oil spills. At the beginning of the 20th century there were an estimated 3 million wild African penguins and today there is less than 19,000 breeding pairs left in the wild. They spend most their life hunting small fish. Unfortunately the fish moved 300 miles east. In breeding season the African penguins return to the same place but there are no fish. Meaning that with the fish 300 miles east, most the chicks don't make it.  Cristina Hagan came up with a plan. She found a place for the penguins that had a plenty of the fis

My Dad, Motorsport And Everything In Between

Image
My Dad loves being in his garage with his Astra rally car. The last rally he did he broke down and he has never completed the Trackrod Rally without breaking something or having an off. He is 39 and loves everything about cars. He has a Ford Transit van and a Skoda Octavia vRS and a Vauxhall Astra Mk3 rally car. His rally car has only done a few rally and has a sequential gearbox and proper hydraulic handbrake. When Dad is competing or co driving he has to wear gloves, helmet, head and neck system, race suit and a balaclava. On the seats in the rally car they have their names on the seats, Dad has his on the drivers seat and Stuart Popplewell has his on the co drivers seat. Stuart reads the pace notes what helps navigate Dad through the stage. My Dad was the first person in the history of rallying to win the Open Rally in a non Ford Escort car. His lucky number is 43 as that was the number that was on the car when he won that rally. The rally is called the Roger Albert Clark Rally. He

V.E. Day

Image
V.E. Day is Victory in Europe Day. It marks the end of World War II in Europe on 8th May 1945, when the Nazi forces officially surrendered to the Allies.  It marked the end of World War II in Europe when the Nazi forces officially surrendered to the Allies. The day was a public holiday, where people sang and danced outside their homes, and held street parties, although World War II didn't officially end until 2 nd  September 1945, when the Japanese formally surrendered. V.E. Day was important because it meant an end to the spread of Nazism and Adolf Hitler's empire (the Third Reich). It was the end of a war which had lasted six years, during which millions had died and millions more suffered intense privations. Families, homes and entire cities had been destroyed. This year marks the 75th Anniversary of V.E. Day, the government had made the decision that today would be a bank holiday but because of Covid-19 the celebration is very different to what was planned. There w

Theo is 10!

Image
Today I turned 10. It was really strange having a birthday during lock down as it meant that I couldn't have a party, or see my friends or do the things I had planned. If we weren't having lock down the plan for my birthday had been to go shopping in Manchester and then go to my first ever gig. With my Dad we would have gone go-karting as we do every year, but again we can't do that because of lock down.  Mum and Aaron and everyone did make it a really nice day though. I woke up and Mum and Aaron had decorated the dining room, I got some great presents from them and my Nan, with the promise of more at my Dad's. My Mum had also organised a Zoom party, and it was fun to see my family friends on video. She had also asked her friend Ange to make my most favourite cake Victoria Sponge for my birthday cake.  We then had a BBQ tea outside on the furniture that I had built with Aaron. It was really yummy as Mum had made homemade burgers and lots of salad.  It was a really weird

Building a table and chairs for outside

Image
Yesterday me and the best wood working man in the whole of the world built a table, chairs and sofa for outside. It was very confusing first of all, as we needed to get some tools to attack this thing with. In the box we got 4 allan keys, but we decided to get Aaron's drill driver as it would make things easier.  First we unboxed all the components out of the box and we layed them on the floor. We decided to put the table together first, we got the table top and sides but before we started to put it together we had a brew. While we had our cuppa we nattered about all of the new tools Aaron has got for the workshop and what each of them did. It was really interesting as he has chosen tools that all work on one type of battery.  So then we got back to work and put the table together, we then did the chairs and the sofa. It was pretty easy to do with the drill driver as it made tightening the screws really easy. Once we had finished we put it outside in the garden and then we put the c

Image
Today I am going to review the book that I read for my monthly goal. I set myself the goal of reading The School of Good and Evil by Soman Chainani in one month. This was a challenge for me as it is one of the longest books I have read.  The Blurb A dark and enchanting fantasy adventure perfect for those who prefer their fairytales with a twist… The first in the bestselling School for Good and Evil series. Every four years, two girls are kidnapped from the village of Gavaldon. Legend has it these lost children are sent to the School for Good and Evil, the fabled institution where they become fairytale heroes or villains. With her glass slippers and devotion to good deeds, Sophie knows she'll join the ranks of past students like Cinderella, Rapunzel, and Snow White at the School for Good. Meanwhile, Agatha, with her shapeless black dresses and wicked black cat, seems a natural fit for the villains in the School for Evil. But the two girls soon find their fortunes reversed – Sophie&#
