Day 18 | Dance parties and scary letters

Today we got a letter from the prime minister, Mum and Daddy said that every house has had it. It was all about Covid-19 and what the government are doing to try and stop it spreading. We have been told a bit about how serious it is by our parents but the letter made it very real and scary.

We don't want to go back to school, or play outside if there is a chance we could make Mum poorly with it. She could get very sick.

Mum and Daddy talked to us about the letter and we chatted about whether it was right for people to get fines and what all the restrictions meant. They also pointed out what Mum called the bits of hope in the letter such as thousands of doctors and nurses returning to the NHS.

Mum and Daddy then used a social story to try and explain coronavirus to Henry. It was hard as he didn't really understand it.

At lunch time Mum could see that we were still thinking about the letter. She said that the best thing we could do was to set it aside as we have no control over what other people do. Just what we do.

She put on some loud music and we had a dance party in the kitchen.

We are still worried and a little scared, but our silly dance party helped to make us smile.
