What is Halley's comet?


Halley's comet is basically a dusty snowball that orbits the sun. There are more comets in our solar system but Halley’s comet is the most popular.




Here are some facts about Halley's Comet:


Halley’s comet is seen by earth every 75- 76 years 


Halley’s comet was discovered i 1758 


Its diameter is 11 kilometres. 


Halley's comet is 75 years old


Comets orbit the sun with their tails facing away from the sun at all times.




Comets go at 2000 miles per hour.


Halley's comet has a mass of 220 trillion kilograms


On the 28th of July 2061 Halley's comet will visit earth


If Halley's comet hit earth it would create a huge crater about 33 km deep and 89 km wide and would kill everyone in 238 kms


 Halley's comet was named after Edmond Halley.
